Dredging
What
is Dredging?
Hydraulic Dredging comprises three
separate and yet very important processes. Hence - The three main
processes of dredging cycle are: excavate
- feed - transport
- The first is the process or function of excavating
the material. The dredge must have adequate cutter power
in the form of horsepower or torque in combination with swing
winch power to dig the material.
- Secondly, the excavator or cutter must be able
to feed the suction. After the material has been excavated, it
is moved into the suction to be pushed to the dredge pump.
- Finally, the proper size and power on a dredge
pumping system is needed to transport the combination of material
and liquid to its final destination.
